"Nothing tastes as good as my life feels right now!"

Standout Season 3 contestant Bryce has always been committed to sports but, back when he was 50kg overweight, it used to hurt his body to try and keep up with the other players. Today, his athletic mind has a physique to match after months of mentally and physically gruelling transformations during Season 3 of The Biggest Loser. And, with his commitment to The Biggest Loser Club, it’s likely to stay that way.

In the ‘bad old days’, Bryce, a manager from Queensland says, “I used to just eat and eat and eat and allow my stomach to override my brain – sometimes until it hurt. I think having a serious weight problem is just like being addicted to something like alcohol – you have to admit you have a problem before you can start to do something about it. I realised I had a problem when I went to The Biggest Loser audition and it hit me that I would probably die early if things didn’t change.”

Along with the other contestants, Bryce was introduced to The Biggest Loser Club at the start of the show; he was impressed with the website and how packed it was with information and motivational tips on food, nutrition and exercise. Learning to use it early-on while he was training with Bob and Jillian in the US helped Bryce to take control of his eating; something he desperately wanted, and needed, to do.

Bryce says, “One of the most useful features for me was The Club’s online diary. I typed in everything I ate and drank and there it all was – the cold, hard facts, staring at me on the screen; it forced me to do something about my eating habits for myself. I used to take the easy way out every time, but those days are over now. And, I wasn’t the only one – a couple of us in the house had some really honest conversations about ourselves, our weight, our emotions and why we ate the food we ate.”

Bryce continues, “The Club was a massively useful tool for me – it stimulated my brain and allowed me to learn in my own time; it helped me to focus on what I really needed to do. It was fun, too, just like surfing the web.”

Having lost over 50kg, Bryce is philosophical about the future although he’s pretty sure about which direction his life will go now. For those who need to make a healthy lifestyle change but haven’t taken the first step yet he urges a positive start, “Start today and if you stumble, don’t beat yourself up too much; just get back on track as soon as you can. Getting well and staying healthy is a 60- to 70-year project – it’s not just a one-year thing. Don’t make a change. Make it LIFE! Now I have made my own changes I’m really enjoying my life. I remember so vividly what it was like at the start when I was overweight and believe me, nothing tastes as good as my life feels now!”
